TitleZ – Amazon tracking for self publishing authors

At Dog Ear Publishing we use a product called TitleZ to track Amazon sales ranks for many of our books. This s a free service that allows you to create an account and load books that you’d like to see tracked.

At this point, TitleZ is free and in beta – that may change, and there are plenty of ‘pay as you go’ Amazon sales rank tracking products. Understanding your Amazon sales rank is important – not so much to show you what you are selling (it really isn’t all that accurate – see this article over at Dog Ear) but so that you know if your book marketing efforts are having any impact at all on your sales.

Book marketing and PR are both very difficult to measure in terms of success – awareness doesn’t necessarily mean sales… but isn’t that the ultimate goal? Since most publishers – self publisher and otherwise – report sales fairly slowly, it’s near impossible to use your quarterly (or even monthly) sales reports to judge the success of campaign. It is much better to see your effort’s impact on your Amazon sales rank.

  1. Thank you VERY much for offering info about such a cool and useful resource! We use TitleZ every day, now. We even use it to observe the titles we consider to be competitive. Thanks again!
